Points System Explained

As you've probably been able to work out, the League is essentially a round robin tournament between eight fighters per division. The problem with that style is if it just awards a win, draw and a loss, what of the many different possible finishes? Below are how points will be distributed.

Win by Finishing (Submission, KO, TKO): 5 points
Win by decision (unanimous, majority or split): 4 points
Win by doctor stoppage or disqualification: 3 points
Draw: 2 points.
Loss by split decision: 2 points
Loss by unanimous or majority decision: 1 point
Loss by finish or doctor stoppage: 0 points
No contest: 0 points
Loss by disqualification: -1

There will also be an additional 2 points for Knockout of the Night and Submission of the Night, and an additional 3 points to the two that receive Fight of the Night honours. (If honours are won in Prelims, points are not added)

Sign-Ups Closed, More Info

I've reduced the number of teams to 8, because it will make things easier. As we have 8 already, I have closed sign-ups. All entrants should now send me their top 8 desired fighters in all six weight classes. You have till Thursday to do this, and if you don't manage to send me a full list and there is a situation where the only ones listed are already gone, I will pick from the Sherdog rankings for you. Keep in mind some guys (such as Anderson Silva) often take more time off, but I am sure I can amend this in the stats editor.

Also, start thinking about your alternates. You should not send me those yet though, I recommend you wait till the main fighters have been listed so you can take advantage of the many great fighters that won't have been selected. You never know, you might get your first choice Heavyweight on your team and no one else chose your second choice, allowing to have him as your alternate.

Stay tuned for the fixture and draft list, which will be randomised, but I will not allow one team to get first pick more than once out of fairness, and the two teams that won't get any first choices may also be put a few places higher.

This is will be a MMA league using the simulation game World of Mixed Martial Arts 2.

All you have to do is comment here or send me an email at walkerv10@gmail.com, with the name for your Camp or Team and the username you wish to go by. I am hoping for ten teams, just so I can produce a top ten, but I can go over this. I have two so far, me and a friend, and can get more people if we don't manage to get ten teams.

When everyone has signed up I will ask you to send me a list of fighters you want on your team. This will just to keep things secret. You will get one main fighter per weight division (Heavyweight, Light Heavyweight, Middlesweight, Walterweight, Lightweight ... maybe Featherweight but I'm not sure), but you will have to send me a list of 10 (or more depending on how many teams we have) in order of preferance. This is because I will randomise who gets first pick, etc, so if your Number 1 is taken already you will get your Number 2, and so on.

Don't worry if you don't know much about MMA. You can access a few MMA ranking sites to help you make your decision, and this is all just for fun anyway. Here are a few: Sherdog, Profighting-Fans, SideControl, Independent World MMA, MMA Playground, MMA Weekly.

When everyone has their main fighters you'll need to send me another list of alternates you want if your main fighter gets injured or retires mid-game. I will allow 2 alternates per weight division. Picking these might require a little more research, but if you want you can just send me a few guidelines of the type of fighter you want (e.g. Under 30 years old, Brazilian, BJJ-based, etc).

As said, it will be simulated using WMMA2 and a real world database that I will download soon.
